A recent newsletter I received from Dr. Ellyn Bader of the Couples Institute highlighted the difference between getting better and feeling better.  Believe it or not, the two are often not the same!  Getting better sometimes creates challenges as you begin to shift away from your habitual reactions and toward a more thoughtful response to relationships.

Your old patterns, while not currently effective, are familiar to you and to others.  At first, change does not always feel better!  But take heart, just like any worthwhile undertaking, the long term rewards will be well worth the effort
